  • Antique Nippon Teacup, Hand Painted Pink Cherry Blossoms with Green Border & White Moriage Swirls, Teacup Collector, Drinkware, Tea Lover,  (Discontinued)
  • Made in Japan
  • Antique:  early 20th Century, (1900 to 1921)
  • Details:  This is a beautiful porcelain teacup and matching saucer.  It is hand painted with pink flowers, they look like cherry blossoms to us.  The border is enhanced with a band of green and added swirls in white moriage.   Both pieces have an exquisite gold accents imitating branches and leaves and the cup has a gold detail on the handle.  They are made of very fine porcelain, very translucent.   As you may be aware, Nippon roughly translates to “JAPAN” and pre dates 1921 when all Japanese porcelain coming into the US had to be marked with the English translation.  We have reviewed the back stamp extensively and believe this to be true, original Nippon, exported by Mitsui Bussan Kaisha , a Japan exporter from the late 19th century, (1876 to the mid-1930s).  We think it would be pure pleasure to drink coffee or tea from this fine cup, to indulge yourself in something beautiful.  If you're a teacup collector, this will be a fine addition to your collection.
  • Materials:  Porcelain
  • Dimension:  Saucer is 5.25 inches in Diameter.  The cup is 2.75 inches in Diameter at top opening, and 2.25 inches Tall.
  • Condition:  Antique - Used.  Excellent Condition. There are no cracks, chips, or visible scratches on these pieces.  Even the gold looks in great condition.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and imperfections.

Mitsui & Co - The Mitsui family can be traced back to 1568.  Through the years, they built several businesses:  Mitsui Ryogaeten, Kawase Mitsuigumi, Senshu Kaisha, Daiichi Bussan Kaisha, etc.  In 1876 Takashi Masuda formed the trading company, Mitsui Bussan Kaisha. By 1880, the company expanded outside of Japan, with branches in Shanghai, Paris, Hong Kong, New York and London.  In 1947, Mitsui & Co. was disbanded and a new Mitsui & Co. was formed, all leading to today's Mitsui Group, which is still in business.
